The Verband der Reformwaren Hersteller (VRH) e.V. (association of health food manufacturers) founded in 1952, represents the joint interests of its member companies towards state organizations, science and public at a national and international level.
This includes being in constant contact with ministries and authorities, scientific institutions in the sectors of nutrition and medicine as well as the sector organizations in health food business both at home and abroad.

Its 40 members are manufacturers of food stuffs, dietetic food stuffs, non-prescription medication and cosmetic products which serve to promote the health of the individual in compliance with approved principles and are sold through specialist health food stores.

These businesses see themselves as responsible parts of society and the environment; based on this understanding, they have redefined the term “quality” and specified the high demands placed on their products in their so-called “neuform-Qualitätsrichtlinien” (neuform quality guidelines).

In addition to the actual quality of their products, aspects such as environment compatibility, maintenance of habitats and securing of social structures are also included. Their products are distributed throughout approximately 2,200 health food stores throughout Germany.

The VRH accompanies the development of market and law through national and international memberships. It co-operates with:

• the Bund für Lebensmittelrecht und Lebensmittelskunde e.V.
  (BLL = association for foodstuffs law and food stuffs science)
• the Europäischer Verband der Reformwaren Hersteller
  (EHPM = European association of health food manufacturers)
• the Internationale Vereinigung der diätetischen Lebensmittelindustrie und Nahrungsergäzungsmittel Hersteller
  (IADSA = International association of dietetic foodstuffs industry and manufacturers of food supplements).

Furthermore, in addition to the other German associations of the pharmaceutical industry, the VRH is also the agency in charge of the co-operation Phytopharmaka and of INTEGRITAS Verein für lautere Heilmittelwerbung e.V. (association for fair advertising of remedies).

For years, the first organization mentioned has been processing scientific material concerning plant based medication and co-operating with independent, well known scientists. INTEGRITAS is a self-controlling organ for the pharmaceutical industry to maintain fair advertising for remedies in Germany.
